This post has been sponsored by The Baby Cubby but, as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Since the bichin was born we have been travelling A LOT with him. Not because both of us are travel addicts and we continued our travel pace with a baby but out of necessity because my dad back home got very sick. Our first trip with the little guy was a road trip to Italy when he was 6 weeks old for my best friend´s wedding but at that same wedding we got the news about my dad and soon after that a year of constant travelling started. So yes, you could kind of say we are experts in traveling with a baby.
At first, we were quite nervous about the traveling but as soon as you have done a few trips, it becomes quite routine. And the key is to be well prepared and have the right gear. And the right gear should not take up too much space because when you´re traveling with a baby for a week you will already take the same amount as you might have taken years ago for a month backpacking in Asia.
Since not many moms have too much time on their hands (and if you do, I want to know how you do it!), we need to pack and shop smart without having to do hours of research. This why I was so happy to have found The Baby Cubby, which is not your typical baby store, but a true community that supports you in every step of this parenting gig. The Baby Cubby not only offers you the best and safest baby gear for a good price (they price match even Amazon!) but also actively engage with parents who might need a little encouragement now and then. I shop confidently with this store because I know their team of parents has already done the research part so I know they only carry the best and safest products. Oh, and they have free shipping!
As a relatively new mom (although I am 1,5 years in, I still feel very new and often have no clue what I am doing) I really appreciate a company that is there to support you and not just to sell to you. So if you have an upcoming trip with a baby, make sure to check out my favorite travel must-haves:
Stokke Flexi Bath: this bath is completely foldable and is therefore ideal for road trips. (Our first night in a hotel we had to bath the bichin in the sink so after that we needed a better solution)
DockATot Sleep Positioner: this one comes in handy for multiple purposes, your baby can sleep in it (so you don´t need to take a travel bed), chill in it (without escaping) and play in it.
Multi-use leather mat: can be used as a changing mat, place mat or for crafty activities on the road. It´s super easy to clean and therefore perfect for whatever you need.
Carrier: especially when flying by plane a carrier is worth gold. You have your hands free for your luggage and can keep your baby close.
Sling: on top of the carrier we often brought a sling to swop between the two. Especially for airport security this is sometimes better, a carrier they sometimes make you take off, a sling you can keep on!
Toys to entertain: you will need some kind of entertainment for the trip. Key is that the toy doesn´t include many different pieces because than you will find yourself crawling through the plane to find your missing pieces back under another passenger´s chair.
Teether: probably doesn´t need much explanation, absolutely key!
Finally, if you´re often traveling to the same place (e.g. grandparents), make sure to have an extra set of things over there. Diapers, sleeping bag, bath items, this will save you a lot of luggage.
What are your must-have travel items? If you have an upcoming trip, make sure to check out The Baby Cubby for some of these life savers.
