It´s so easy to get-up and jump straight into the daily chaos: preparing breakfast for the family, checking your work email, getting dressed and running out to work. We all want to take some time to start the day peacefully but hey, who has the time? Nobody right? In the 6am club I wrote about how I used to have this hour every morning to start my day well (planning my day, some sports, some reflection time) but since having the bichin, that´s just a utopia so it´s normally just facing the day head-on. Still, there is one tiny element of this 6am ritual that I still manage to preserve, but only because it just takes 5minutes.
The last years there´s quite some noise on the “dangers” of having a sedentary job without much movement for the entire day. Apparently sitting down for hours a day has really negative impacts on our health even if we go to the gym every day. In extreme cases, sitting is called the smoking of our generation. Auch! So yeah, you thought you did a good job by busting your ass of in the gym a few times a week and squeezing in some runs but apparently that office chair will defeat it all. Add to the mix that after being a mom that gym + running a few times a week might have changed into a few times per decade and I am basically screwed.
I am a planner, if you look up the definition of planning in the dictionary my name is there. I have planning sheets in Excel, to-do lists in Wunderlist, my digital calendar and next to that a good old paper journal to plan my day-to-day. I might take the planning sometimes a bit too far (C would probably say to leave out the “bit” here), but that´s what I do. So I am already planning in a spreadsheet our moving to a new house of which the buying process hasn´t even been confirmed yet, yep call me freaky but hey if the move is happening I bet some people will be happy with my sheet full of to-do´s, to buy´s, to paint, to sell etc.
Remember that time when you went to work all dressed up and looking fab? That time when you took a shower in the morning before work, blow-dried your hair, tweaked your hair a bit more with the straightener, put on some make-up, had breakfast and left for the office. High heels, awesome dress with pencil skirt, prepared and ready to rock the day.
There has been quite a lot written online about the lady that had to dump 500oz of breast milk at Heathrow Airport because she wanted to bring it in her carry-on (If you haven´t heard about it yet, check this article on BBC). When I first read about I didn´t realise how much 500oz exactly is but after a quick converter I saw it was almost 15 liters. 15 freaking liters of breast milk! Dumped in the trash! That´s a whole lot of pumping.
