We´re back at home! After a month in the Netherlands and a week in Menorca, it´s really good to be back at our own place. Spending so much time with friends and family was the best, but coming back to your own little house and not living out of a suitcase is actually quite nice. However, what I did realize is that actually, I didn´t miss much stuff. And I am mostly talking clothes. When I did the packing for this long trip, I had to really minimize the stuff I was bringing for myself because packing for a toddler for so long is quite a challenge. Especially if you realize we went from fall weather in the Netherlands (e.g. long pants, jackets, long PJs etc.) to beach weather in Menorca (e.g. beach towels, swimming gear, some buckets to play with, summer PJs) so I had to bring it all. However, I never really missed my clothes and was fine with a few basics that I wore a lot (to be fair, I did borrow a few items from my sisters + mom, but still i had the smallest choice of clothes ever), so my mission for this week is to downsize my closet a bit since obviously I don´t need it all.
The holiday at Menorca was great, the weather was 50:50, we had 3 beautiful days and 2 days of wind / rain (luckily I still had the Dutch clothes in that huge suitcase ;)). But, it was way too short. I think holidays are often too short but just a week of disconnecting from work (e.g. no laptop) is just not enough. So it was actually really tough to get back to work yesterday. However, I know I am doing it for a good cause so I can save the rest of my holidays for the end of the year or to extend my maternity leave. Some pics from Menorca:
How I am feeling
I am feeling quite good but do notice I have to take it easy. My doctor already said I should really take it easy this pregnancy due to some issues during my previous pregnancy, and although I do feel fine I, for example, noticed during a wedding we had during our last weekend in NL that my belly was getting really hard and that standing most of the day was too much. So I am trying to stop myself a bit more.
It´s still the mayo…..
So we´re over halfway this pregnancy and I´ve gained 6 kilos so far. Only 0,5 kilo is the baby, so the rest can probably be attributed to nachos with guac, fries with loads of mayo (or actually, anything with mayo) and chocolate. We´re back home now so I´m starting a healthier routine as of today (will let you know next week how that´s going).
Newborn shopping can start: it´s a…..
I haven´t done much shopping yet for this one but yesterday we had the 20weeks ultrasound and we found out what we´re having so I guess I can go crazy now :). I always thought I would be the one with the whole football team, a house full of boys. Don´t ask me why, but it was just a feeling. On the other hand, my mother in law was convinced from the moment I was pregnant that it was a girl, and also my sisters thought it was a girl. During the last ultrasounds, they hinted a bit at a girl but also said it was too early to be sure and that the baby wasn´t laying in the best position to see it. But, yesterday they confirmed we´re indeed having a girl!!!! Honestly, we didn´t really care (two boys would also be a lot of fun probably!) and were more happy that everything was fine but we´re very excited that we´re adding a girl to the clan! (Especially mamas around me seem to be over the moon and congratulate me that luckily it´s a girl, makes me feel a bit bad for the potential boy we could have had haha). Anyways, let the newborn and nursery shopping begin!!
