A lot of times when seeing a baby people say things like: “What a life hey, just eating, sleeping, playing a bit, I wish I was a baby”. Of course for most of us it´s not possible to live a life of doing just that, but maybe we can make our lives a bit more like a baby´s life by taking over some of their attitudes because I think we can (and should!) learn a lot from our kids and by making some changes in our mindset we can definitely make an important change in our lives!
So what if we all took these 4 mindsets from our kids and see what that does for us?
What often strikes me from the bichin is how happy he always is and how he always has a smile ready for everybody. Random strangers on the street or in the store get a big smile and a wave which makes them happy as well. He seems to be very optimistic and never doubts if he can do something or not (which does give him some bruises as a consequence! But hey bruises will fade away, how awesome would it be if we wouldn´t be afraid and just try everything we want to achieve?). So what if all try to think a bit more positive, smile and be kind to strangers, and have the confidence in ourselves that we can achieve what we want to achieve?
Be able to forget the bad stuff quickly
Related to optimism is also the quality to forget the bad stuff very quickly. Babies can go from crying loud to a big smile with the tears still in their eyes. The bichin can fall and hit his head but a minute later make the switch, be super happy again and seem to have forgotten about the hit already. What if instead of keeping thinking about the bad things in our lives and dwelling on them, we make the switch quickly as well and focus on the fun, and good things that we have?
Be curious, keep exploring
Babies and little kids have an unlimited desire to explore and are curious for everything around them. Everything is interesting and fascinating, and there is always something new to explore. It´s such a pity that we lose this natural curiosity when we get older and fall into fixed routines and activities, why can´t we keep exploring?
Be able to enjoy the little things
The bichin can get super excited from seeing a butterfly pass by his pram, a dog walking
in the park or from a simple Tupperware box. Because hey, it seems a simple plastic box but by clapping with the top on the box you can make great music! We just have to put the radio and he starts bouncing up and down (his way of “dancing”) with a big smile on his face. He doesn´t need much to enjoy himself which is quite refreshing in the materialistic and consumer-focused society we are living where we always need more and more of everything (although we think that kids need all those fancy expensive toys, they can perfectly entertain themselves and have fun with very simple stuff).
I think that these 4 simple mindset changes can make a really positive impact on our lives, what else do you think we can learn from the littles?
